Jesus Died So We Can Live
Easter is the announcement that Jesus died so we can live.
The good news is not that Jesus came to slightly improve our lives. The good news is that while we were helpless, Christ died for sinners. He paid the penalty of sin so that we could be made right with God and receive new life.
That is why Easter is more than a holiday. It is the center of our hope.
We Need To Know We Are Dead
Before we can understand resurrection, we have to understand the problem. Scripture does not describe humanity as merely distracted, mistaken, or in need of a little moral improvement. Apart from Christ, we are spiritually dead.
That is hard to hear, but it is also what makes the gospel so beautiful.
Dead people do not need advice. They need resurrection.
Jesus came to do what we could never do for ourselves. He stepped into our sin, shame, and death, and He gave His life so that we could live.
Christ Came At The Right Time
Romans 5 says that when we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
God did not wait for us to become impressive. He did not wait for us to clean ourselves up. He did not wait for us to prove we were worth saving.
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
That means salvation begins with grace. We do not earn it. We receive it. We believe that Jesus is who He says He is, that He died for our sins, and that He rose again.
Made Right In His Sight
Because of the blood of Christ, we can be made right in God’s sight.
That phrase is full of mercy. God sees our sin clearly, but through Jesus He also sees the finished work of the cross. Condemnation does not get the final word for those who belong to Christ.
The resurrection means sin and death have been defeated. Hope is alive. Forgiveness is available. New life is possible.
Just Believe
The invitation of Easter is simple and life-changing: believe.
Believe that Jesus died for you. Believe that He rose again. Believe that He is Lord. Believe that His grace is enough to save.
This is not motivational language. This is a gospel decision that changes eternity and transforms today.
Jesus did not come only so we could go to heaven one day. He came so that His life could begin in us now.
