A Church Alive

A church alive brings people to Jesus.

In Mark 2, a paralyzed man cannot get to Jesus on his own. But he has friends who believe Jesus is worth the effort. When the room is too crowded, they do not give up. They open the roof and lower their friend down in front of Jesus.

That is a picture of living faith.

Some People Need To Be Carried

The man in Mark 2 could not get there by himself.

That is true spiritually for many people around us. They may be wounded, stuck, skeptical, ashamed, tired, or unable to imagine walking into church or praying again. They need friends with faith.

A church alive notices people who cannot get to Jesus on their own and says, "We can help carry you."

Faith Makes Room

The friends encounter an obstacle: the house is full.

But full rooms do not stop determined faith. They find another way. Their love is practical, persistent, and bold.

That challenges the church. Are we making room for people to meet Jesus? Are we willing to be inconvenienced? Are we willing to serve, invite, pray, give, and adjust so someone else can encounter Him?

Faith is not passive. Faith moves.

Jesus Sees Faith

Mark says Jesus saw their faith.

That is striking. Their faith was visible. It had action attached to it. It showed up in what they carried, what they risked, and how they refused to quit.

Then Jesus speaks to the deeper need first: forgiveness. The man needed healing, but he also needed the grace only Jesus could give.

Jesus has authority to forgive sins and power to heal bodies. He sees the whole person.

Bring Someone With You

A church alive does not exist for itself. It carries hope into the city.

Invite someone. Pray for someone. Sit with someone. Serve someone. Tell someone what Jesus has done. Bring someone with you, not as a project, but as a person loved by God.

The room may be crowded. The need may be heavy. The path may require effort. But Jesus is worth it.
