Events Team Leader

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The role of Events Team Leader is to creatively and effectively execute an Avenue Church event from formation to completion while including and engaging a dynamic team of volunteers.

Department: Avenue Church

Location: Determined by Event

Reports to: Pastor Lindsey Bosma

Responsibilities:

  • Creative Planning
  • Assignments and Delegation
  • Inventory & Purchasing
  • Recruiting Team Volunteers
  • Training Team Volunteers
  • Communication: Staff, Marketing, Volunteers, Church Community
  • Managing Events
  • Follow up and Feedback

Time Commitment:10-20 hours per event. No more than one event per month.

Skills Required:

  • Communication Skills: able to successfully interpret what is being asked of them as well as effectively communicate with others.
  • Leadership Skills: exhibits decisiveness, integrity, relationship and team building, problem-solving, dependability, and the ability to train, resource, and empower others.
  • Teamwork Skills: actively and consistently displays responsibility, reliability, honestly, active listening, empathy, collaboration, and awareness.
  • Computer Skills: competent in word processing, data entry, and email communication. Ability to learn communication and organizational platforms such as Planning Center Online, Slack, Mail Chimp, and Text in Church.
  • Organizational Skills: competent in the areas of planning, critical thinking, attention to detail and conflict management.
  • Analytical Skills: able to critically think, analyze data, think creatively, and problem solve.
  • Time Management Skills: Planning, decision making and prioritization, and ability to build systems and diligently follow them.

Rooted Team Leader

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The role of the Rooted Team Leader is to partner with the vision of Avenue Church by recruiting, developing, and empowering men and women to facilitate life-giving Rooted experiences and to cast vision, create momentum and onboard men and women to experience life change through joining a Rooted Experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Avenue Church Culture Carrier
  • Recruit Rooted Experience Facilitators
  • Develop and Train Facilitators with Rooted Network Materials
  • Organize details of Rooted Experiences using Planning Center Online
  • Create Communication Systems with Planning Center Online
  • Manage Marketing Rooted Experiences with Avenue Church Staff
  • Plan and Execute Rooted One Day | Launch Day
  • Manage Registrations for Rooted Experience Members

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Outreach Team Leader

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The Outreach Team exists to make a difference in local and regional communities through current and future partnerships. This team is designed to create pathways of service that will encourage Avenue Church members to engage in services to local and regional needs. This team acts as a bridge between the local church and community as we meet felt needs in our surrounding areas.

Location: Determined by Outreach Needs

Reports to: Pastor Lindsey Bosma

Responsibilities:

  • Connecting with Local and Regional Partners
  • Creating 4 Outreach Projects each year.
  • Scheduling outreach dates with Avenue Church staff and Community Partners.
  • Manage Marketing for Outreach Events
  • Resourcing and Equipping Team Volunteers
  • Managing Outreach Events

Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per Outreach Event.

Intercessory Prayer Team

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The role of an Intercessory Team Member is essential and propels the mission and vision of Avenue Church by breaking new ground, engaging in spiritual warfare, and lifting up the needs of others.

Department: Avenue Church

Location: Flexible

Reports to: Pastoral Lead Team

Responsibilities:

  • Put on the whole armor of God Ephesians 6:11-18
  • Intercessory prayer for:
    • Covering our Pastors, leaders, and teams
    • Vision of Avenue Church
    • Weekly Prayer Requests
    • Specific seasons, projects, and events
    • Breaking Strongholds in our city
    • Alignment to God’s will

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Experience Required

  • Devoted follower of Jesus Christ
  • Ability to engage in Spiritual Warfare
  • Mature believer with an understanding of God’s Word.

Parking Lot Team Leader

  • Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position:
    The role of the Load In / Load Out Team Leader is to assist the Pastoral Staff in the organization, storage, and maintenance of all onsite resources, including tables, chairs, drapes, carts, signage, etc. by mobilizing and directing a team of Load In / Load Out Team Members to manage the set up and tear down of Weekend Services and other Events.

    Department: Operations

    Location: Opportunity Village (occasional offsite location requests will be submitted in advance by Pastoral Staff according to event needs)

    Reports to: Pastoral Staff

    Responsibilities:

  • Engage, recruit, train, and schedule new and potential team members to assist in Load In / Load Out Operations
  • Maintain and improve the organization of offsite and onsite storage.
  • Provide maintenance of onsite resources
  • Utilize onsite resources to execute floor plans, table layouts, drape lines, etc., with excellence, care, and attention to detail.

    Time Commitment: 5-6 Hours Per Week

    Skills Required

  • Operational Skills: Ability to reference calendar and effectively plan for the basic need and additional needs of various upcoming events special events.
  • Leadership Skills: The ability to identify, engage, and empower potential Load In / Load Out leaders to help scale systems but more importantly to equip them to be all they are called to be in the Christ.
  • Innovation Skills: Ability to identify needs, strategize solutions, and present a volunteer position role description or a purchase request to the Pastoral Staff for approval.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and store both onsite and offsite resources
  • Delegation Skills: Ability to support team members and Pastoral Staff by effectively communicating and assigning responsibilities and expectations of team members serving on their team with proper notice, vision, and direction
  • Maintenance Skills: Ability and awareness to effectively repair resources either with their team or through vendor support
  • Computer Skills: A basic level of internet navigation skills is needed to effectively use Planning Center and Email for team member scheduling, and Slack for team communication.

    Resources Needed: Transportation to and from property, a computer or mobile device for team communications and scheduling.

    Resources Provided: Planning center training, set up/tear down procedures, storage keys, facility keys, floor plans and layouts for special events provided by event leader.
