Office Assistant

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The role of Office Assistant provides important movement in the systems and structures that daily support the vision and mission of Avenue Church. Through clear communication, organization, and preparation the office assistant provides ample support to the pastoral staff and Avenue Church.

Department: Pastoral Staff Support
Location: Avenue HQ
Reports to: Pastoral Staff

Responsibilities:

  • Incoming/Outgoing Phone Calls
  • Data Entry
  • Filing and Organization
  • Calendar Input
  • Purchases and Errands
  • Weekend Prep Work

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Skills Required

  • Communication Skills: able to successfully interpret what is being asked of them as well as effectively communicate with others.
  • Teamwork Skills: actively and consistently displays responsibility, reliability, honestly, active listening, empathy, collaboration, and awareness.
  • Learning & Adaptability Skills: able to learn new things and adapt to new situations within the workplace.
  • Organizational Skills: competent in the areas of planning, critical thinking, attention to detail and conflict management.
  • Computer Skills: competent in word processing, data entry, and email communication. Ability to learn communication and organizational platforms such as Planning Center Online, Slack, Mail Chimp, and Text in Church.
  • Driving Skills: Ability to operate one’s own vehicle legally and responsibly while executing purchases and errands for Avenue Church.

Resources Needed: Working vehicle and valid driver’s license.

Resources Provided:Computer, department training and materials, and mileage reimbursement.

Finance Assistant

Volunteer Job Description or Purpose of Volunteer Position: The role of Finance Assistant provides clear and concise financial support through data entry, preparing financial statements, processing invoices, and supporting other team members throughout any accounting processes. This role contributes to the financial integrity and healthy stewardship of Avenue Church.

Department: Financial Administration

Location: Avenue HQ

Reports to: Lead Pastoral Team & Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry | Planning Center Online and Quickbooks
  • Preparing Financial Statements
  • Processing Purchase Orders
  • Processing Invoices
  • Reconciling Accounts
  • Bank Deposits

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Skills Required:

  • Communication Skills: able to successfully interpret what is being asked of them as well as effectively communicate with others.
  • Teamwork Skills: actively and consistently displays responsibility, reliability, honestly, active listening, empathy, collaboration, and awareness.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and/or Numbers and accounting software.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong knowledge of bookkeeping. Competent in the areas of planning, attention to detail, and data visualization.
  • Analytical Skills: able to critically think, analyze data, think creatively, and problem solve.
  • Time Management Skills: Planning, decision making and prioritization, and ability to build systems and diligently follow them.
