Scriptures:

John 3:16 NIV “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

1 John 3:16-18 NIV “ This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

James 5:16 MSG “16-18 Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.”

Reflection Question:

How often do I show love in action? How can I grow in this area of my life?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I am eternally grateful for your sacrificial love. I thank you that you chose me. I’m thankful for your great love that propelled you to the cross to give your life for me. I pray that out of a deep love for you, I would have a deep love for people. I ask that you would give me your heart to care for others as you do. I pray for your eyes to see people the way that you see them. More of you and less of me Lord. Amen.
